Termination

(See previous entry)

By Wednesday or early Thursday I had decided to give them my notice on Friday (yesterday). I finally decided that I wouldn’t do well in such a negative work environment.

Well, everything changed on Thursday, the 12th. I got into work on time. I wasn’t supposed to have to do an audit, but my boss gave me one anyway. Anyone else, if they were off that day from audits, there’d be no way they’d be allowed to do one. Me? Different story. But, I did it and did a good job doing it. I left for lunch and just went down the street to Caribou. I left in plenty of time to get back, but the traffic was unpredictable and I was stuck at a light for at least 5 minutes. I kept an eye on the time, and knew already I’d lost my job. Before I was even 1 minute late, I received a call from the temp agency informing me of my termination. I asked if there was any way I could at least get my things, as I was right by the building by then. They allowed me to get my things, and I left without saying a thing, except asking my boss if she wanted me to go ahead and give her my time sheet.

So, I wasn’t able to leave on my terms… which was disappointing.

I talked to my mom about this, and she asked if they knew my mental disability. They did, and my mom feels that, once they found out, they were desperately looking for a reason to get rid of me without it coming across as discrimination, which is illegal. She feels they were discriminating against my disability and I might be able to do something about it. I’m not sure if it would hold up, since the “technical” reason for my termination was my attendance, which in all cases was unavoidable and in some cases was a result of my mental disability.
