Monday

I got up and got my coffee while the computer booted, then went to get Casey up. His forehead felt pretty hot, so I checked his temperature. It was high again, so I called the school to let them know he wouldn’t be making it today. I’d have to see how he went and determine if he’d need to get into the doctor or not.

I let him go back to bed, and went to my computer and spent a while looking through Facebook until my free book & paid emails came in. I got tired of waiting since I’d been up so early, so I started on my work for the day. Since my work is so incredibly easy and leaves me so much spare time, I was working on my emails while also working.

I also talked to Brian a bit. He was off work for the day, but I explained that Casey was home from school.

With just one extended break, I was able to get my 4 hours of work in relatively quickly. I sent an email to the team asking for clarification on the expectations that state that we are to work at least 20 hours. Usually, Appen caps you out at a certain number of hours, and I would like to know if I can work more.

In the afternoon, I checked Casey’s temperature again and decided that I should go ahead and get him into the doctor to see if there’s something else going on. I called to see if they had any openings left in the day. I was able to schedule him at the Sparta clinic for Tuesday.

When Dave got home from work and found out that I’d kept Casey home from school for an elevated temperature, he asked me “Are you sure it’s not just the thermometer?” Seriously? Are you seriously asking me that about your own fucking kid? You can’t see how miserable he is and trust that the thermometer is accurate and he needs to see a doctor? How can anyone act like that about their own child??

I tried to see if Brian was free to go out, but his roommates had gone shopping in La Crosse and he didn’t know when they’d be back. I was also talking to Tommy a bit, and he offered to go out with me. I didn’t think I’d be that into him and was concerned about his statement that cops “love” him, but ultimately decided we could at least be friends. So, I got changed into some clothes and headed out.

I got to the bar before Tommy even expected to be there, so I took the opportunity to ask about him since I figured it was his hangout. I was told just that he’s a very nice guy with quite a sense of humor and a lot of cats. That was reassuring anyway.

When he got there, I thought he was reasonably attractive, but his breath was awful. I couldn’t really tell what was going on with his mouth when I looked at him, but I’m pretty sure there were some missing teeth as well. So it was confirmed, we could be friends but it wouldn’t go beyond that.

I had a few drinks while there hanging out, and then was getting tired and also wanted some chili cheese fries. I left the bar and headed to Culver’s for my fries, then took them home. I munched on those while chatting with Mindi and Nik to round out my evening, then headed to bed.
